However, award winning rapper Gigi Laymane believes that the clash over languages is contextually irrelevant and should be stopped.

The philanthropic rapper who raps in both English and vernac herself took to twitter to reveal that it is a wayward attitude to believe that language choice is the major contributor in the selling of one’s music and SA hip hop artists should stop that debate as it will not produce result. She added that good music in any language sells.

“This English versus vernacular argument in hip hop is so futile. So much has changed to what our context is right now and it is possible to make it either way, just make good music. Sikhathele bo,” Gigi tweeted.
