“Is Hip Hop Driven By Beat Over Content?” Asks BigStar Johnson After Poor Reception Of His Album #MeAndMines. As a hip hop fan what would you say means the most to you, beat or content?

Being an artist may be something one enjoys but it comes with the challenge of keeping up with relevance. Some artists are still hellbent on providing content while others are all about vibes and trends.

BigStar Johnson is one of the rappers more focused on making music than he is on the politics of the industry. Through his music you can tell he is more concerned on giving fans content than anything else. After releasing his album Me And Mines he came to an observation based on how modern hip hop has become.

The Kleva rapper did boast on how great his project is but admitted that it didn’t slap as hard as conventional Hip hop album would.

“Bumped #MeAndMines yesterday and realized I gave South Africa a classic quality HipHop album .
With that being said I can only now say that it didnt slap as hard a conventional HipHop album would,” he added.

He then proceeded to question exactly what is driven by Hip hop, what sells or is more vital to fans – Beat or Content.

“Which brings me to the question. Is HipHop driven by beat over content,” he adds.
