Cassper And Stogie T Weigh In On Limited Financial Support For Artists During Lockdown

Cassper And Stogie T Weigh In On Limited Financial Support For Artists During Lockdown! Earlier this week, President Ramaphosa announced a twenty-one day lockdown to flatten the curve of Corona virus spreading. He then announced a solidarity fund to help those in need which included a “seed fund”.

Artists and the whole showbiz industry was however not included in that budget. Celebs took to social media airing their frustrations on how artists are not taken seriously on South Ah. This forced the Minister of Sports, Arts & Culture, Nathi Mthethwa to hold a press conference on how artists would be assisted as they are also affected by the lockdown.

He then allocated one hundred & fifty million Rand to ‘relief programme’ for the creative sector. He made it clear that the allocated funds were only for the first quarter of the new financial year. “We will be prioritizing only practitioners and artists whose shows had been cancelled or postponed and shows funded by the department as well as the legends of the industry,” the Minister said.

This has not sat well with artists who feel the amount allocated to the sector is not enough to cover everyone and the criteria for selection. Cassper, Rouge and Stogie T took to social media reacting to the announcement. Check out their reactions below.
