Here’s A Sneak Peak Of The First South African Hip Hop Museum Accomodating All The G.O.A.Ts
Here’s A Sneak Peak Of The First South African Hip Hop Museum Accomodating All The G.O.A.Ts. A proof of how SA hip hop is growing from more than one angle.
We can all agree that it took a long time for South Africa to adjust to Hip hop as a music genre. As much was it was turned into something worth liking back in the 80’s in Cape Town, it is only now in the 21st century that it has gained the prominence it deserved.
One can recall how the likes of HHP, Proverb, Senyaka, Black Noise and Prophecy Of The City to mention a few contributed to the upgrade of the genre. As years went on young people who are now dominating the industry presented styles and sounds that put it to the top.
There’s many to count but Nasty C, Areece, Emtee, Cassper, YoungstaCPT and Stogie T at least are living legends busy uplifting SA hip hop even more. When you start gaining international recognition, it means you’ve done exceptionally well especially considering the perception the world had of Africa.
Rashid Kay along with friends decided to give special attention to SA Hip Hop by first establishing music awards strictly for the genre.
Going on a 8th year, the awards have played a major role in boosting more talented artists. Rashid then later with his team built a Hip hop Museum. The aim of the spectacular place is to appreciate the stars who have graced the industry and done so in an impressive manner.
The first event was held late last year and the likes of ProKid, HHP and Da Les to say the least were appreciated.
Located in Johannesburg, Newton. Rashid shared a sneak peak.
