Moozlie & Ginger Trill Confront The Kiffness Singer David Scott After He Defends Woolworths Past Decision To Not Play Local Music
While most artists were fuming at Woolworths for their decision to never play local music, others felt that the focus should be on SABC than it should be on Woolworths.
David Scott from the internationally acclaimed band The Kiffness went back and forth with rapper Moozlie for his sentiments. Scott argued that artists who cried about Woolworths send their music to major SABC stations that haven’t paid any cent for intellectual property but can fight Woolies for not playing music.
“And yet all these artists send their music to @METROFMSA & other SABC stations which haven’t paid a cent for our intellectual property (something @WOOLWORTHS_SA actually has done over all these years). As it stands, SABC owe SAMPRA over R104mill & Woolies is the bad guy? LOOOOL,” wrote David.
Moozlie is one of the artist who expressed major outcry comcerning woolies, she gave the singer a piece of her mind on his views.
“Well clearly us speaking up actually did something in this case. What can we realistically do about the SABC? You seem to have a lot of knowledge on this matter. Please share, ” she responded.
Scott hit back by reiterating his view and a stint of backlash to SABC.
“I’m glad @OfficialSAMPRA raised the Woolies issue & artists banded together to put pressure on them to rethink their decision, but the SABC are FAR worse. Like way way worse. Really very strange that SAMPRA haven’t said anything about it?
“If @OfficialSAMPRA can address the non-payment of royalties from SABC with the same urgency they did with Woolies, it can start the ball rolling.
If I were CEO I’d pull all music from SABC stations until they fulfilled their legal obligation. Starting to think he’s been bribed,” he added.
Here’s how Ginger Trill responded.
