Unlike many prominent African pop singers, Madjozi raps in a variety of native African languages over songs that are traditionally allocated for English lyrics, as well as over gqom beats that don’t require significant lyrical material at all.

The rapper has recently partnered with Hennesy and during the Hennesy Special interview, Sho Madjozi revealed why her music is limited to the African context. “Im just limited to the African context, that’s what you see when you go out there, that no one is better than you this is our world as well,” she said.

Sho Madjozi further expressed that her music is there to unite Africans and she doesn’t have to remind people since her music is already doing that. “So I don’t have to come and preach to you and say to you look as Africans we are one when my music is already doing that.” Said Madjozi

In many of her other hit songs, Sho Madjozi raps in Tsonga, her ancestors’ original tongue. Because of this one-of-a-kind skill, she has a broad appeal, communicating directly to listeners across the continent and beyond.
