Born Nhlamulo Baloy, most people might be wondering what inspired or what brought the idea of the former artist to name himself NOTA. The music mogul shared a post on Twitter correcting how people should spell his name, and it came to light that there is more under the skin when it comes to the real meaning of his name.

“It’s NOTA not Nota. None Of The Above!” NOTA tweeted. One of his Twitter followers asked in the comments how he came about with that idea. “How did you even think of that?” He responded how the name NOTA came about. “It just came to me as a teenager…” NOTA replied.

NOTA always trends when he talks. He’s either experiencing backlash from South Africans for some of his comments regarding hip-hop, or he’s being praised for expressing his mind. And its clear why the revelation for the meaning of his name led to tongues wagging on Twitter TL.

The former artist might not be liked by many because of the things he says, but his knowledge and love for music cannot go unnoticed. During an interview with DRUM the former rapper shared how he fall in love with music and how he owned his first music collection at a very young age.

“I fell in love with music when I owned my first music collection at the age of six, it included the likes of Puff Daddy, Notorious BIG and the whole Bad Boy family.  As kids growing up in Soweto we would memorize rap songs and change their lyrics. I would get an instrumental to put my own flavour after memorizing the lyrics and that’s how I started rapping.” He said.
