SA Rappers React To The Ongoing Protest Of Artists Demanding For Events To Open. South Africa is currently debating on whether it’s a good idea for the government to open events even though the pandemic isn’t over.

After 6 months of lockdown a number of artists haven’t been able to generate an income from gigs since social gatherings have been prohibited. During the course of these months a number of activities were relaxed but still no progress in the Arts & Culture section.

To show how frustrated and financially tied artists have been at the disregard by the government they decided to protest. The protests kickstarted in Durban where musicians came in numbers to close N3. This was to set up a statement on the seriousness of their outcry. They want 70% capacity at least.

The worst outcome of the protests were rubber bullets thrown in the direction of protestors who seemingly didn’t initiate violent actions.

Reacting to the matter were fans and fellow artists from across the country. The likes of Cassper, Yanga Chief, Rouge and JR reacted on the matter. The hashtag #VulaPresident is already receiving an utmost attention.

“This ain’t life! We meet a vaccine! I need my life back! I miss working/performing,” wrote Nadia Nakai.
