Shane Eagle Expresses How He Feels About Being Accused Of Trying So Hard To Sound American Specifically Like J.Cole

Shane Eagle Expresses How He Feels About Being Accused Of Trying So Hard To Sound American Specifically Like J.Cole. In SA Hip Hop there’s a notion that to best represent local hip hop you must portray certain signature original sounds, Shane Eagle has been accused of lacking so much of that in his music.

Eagle may be one of the top artists in SA Hip Hop but the majority of fans state that he sounds too American. By this they mean he imitates a lot of American rappers in his music mostly J.Cole.

“I don’t see it as a criticism to associate me with greatness and I suppose that’s why the comparison seems like the most natural to make. I have also learnt in my time making music never to take critics or opinions personally (good or bad) because my art is subjective. It’s true to me.

“As long as the message is understood, I’m happy. I also think the sound in my music creates a bridge between opposing worlds and suggests that we can all connect through art and music regardless of where you were born. Maybe it’s all connected in the end and I happen to be the link,” said Eagle.

The Yellow rapper has been teasing working with J.Cole on his label Dreamville, during an interview with Zkhiphani he refused to share more details on his involvement with the American rapper. But he did confirm that he is featured on Cole’s upcoming album.

The 24 year-old recently dropped another great project Xenergy.
