Tshego Explains How Family Tree Pocketed The Money That Was Meant For Artists

Tshego Explains How Family Tree Pocketed The Money That Was Meant For Artists. Earlier on the week rapper and producer Tshego revealed he won his long legal battle against Cassper music label, Family Tree.

Tshego expressed how draining the process of him getting back his royalties has been. He didn’t point out names but mentioned that Africori wasn’t the reason he wasn’t funded for his music which he made as an independent artist, instead it was Family Tree that deliberately pocketed the money.

Africori is the go-to hub for independent African artists and labels from across the continent and in the Diaspora.

“Africori was never the problem. They had no idea the label was not sub-accounting to their artists. Instead just pocketing everything that was distributed by Africori as their own. I NEVER SIGNED ANYTHING. THATS ALL MY SHIT. Produced by ME, recorded by ME, at MY STUDIO,” he explained.

His win gave him more freedom to express himself even thanked his legal team for the work that finally worked on his favour.

“A sincere thank you @KMalatji and the #TailorMadeLaw team for getting my catalogue back in my possession after all my calls, emails, and texts failed. Thank you #Africori for realising my catalogue was for none to earn from but myself. We’re setting a precedent” – Tshego.

There’s no telling yet if he is still in good terms with Cassper Nyovest who is the owner of Family Tree.
