 “The trinity has destabilised” – Gigi Lamayne Mourns The Passing Of Her Childhood Friend. At a time when death is inflicting devastation in the South African hip-hop scene, losing a loved one is the last thing anyone needs.

Gigi Lamayne took to Instagram to grieve the death of a childhood friend with whom she spent most of her adolescence. In a lengthy post, the rapper remembered all of their happy experiences together from high school to their university graduation and making their parents proud.

“Rest easy Monroe. To our teenage love affair. To Girls nights and 6am heels in hands ! Studying late ! Our first tattoos together . Heartbreaks and ice cream. Arguments over how protective we were over each other to cuddles cause our apartments could get cold in the winter.” Wrote Gigi Lamayne.

 “I’m broken my friend but to be honest, you been bigger than this life. You were so proud of Gigi. We just had to show our parents we could graduate .. and we did. You bought me lots of books. You knew me.. I don’t know Thando hey … 🕊️ 🤍 the trinity has destabilised. 💔💔💔💔 only two remain. Thando though ..” She added.

This is not the first time the famed rapper has grieved losing a friend. Last year, the Ice Cream hitmaker woke up to the news that one of her university friends died after committing suicide. “Woke up to the news that one of my university mates took his life last night. A motivational speaker and writer. It don’t make sense… The new pandemic is suicide… a silent genocide… lurking in the struggles of the youth. Slowly emerging … the fire is becoming uncontrollable.” Wrote Gigi Lamayne in a now-deleted tweet.
