Makwa accuses rappers of deliberately skipping out on payments to producers. Resident Producer at Rap Lyf Records Makwa has producing credits on some of South Africa’s biggest hip-hop tracks and albums. The producer has worked on AKA’s album Touch My Blood,Kwesta’s Spirit and Vur Vai, and Bucie’s Rebirth. The star producer has been nominated at the South African Hip-Hop Awards for Best Producer consecutively for the years 2017 and 2018.
The multi-talented producer and rapper took to twitter to express his feelings about rappers who have skipped out on payments for work that he has done for them but are seen in expensive designer clothes. In his tweet the Amalobolo producer said, “Some Rappers Be Flexing on the Gram But Don’t pay for services they ask producers to do smh. Wearing Gucci Socks and Shit but they will tell you stories when it’s time to pay. To rappers who still owe me niyidleni leyo Mali niyeza Masimbenu.
Tweeps inquisitively wondered who the producer was talking about in his tweet, some even went as far as to ask why the producer would release the song before he has received payment from the artist.
Could we expect Makwa drop the names of the rappers he mentions in his tweet soon?
