South African Rappers Currently Rocking The Top 40 2021 Apple Music Hip-Hop Charts

The Apple Music Hip-Hop charts are a mix of International and South African features, currently Playboy Carti, Kid Cudi and Drake head up the list with South African rappers not to far behind.

When looking at the Apple music Hip-Hop charts it is clear that South African rappers always keep up with their International competition and also making the charts as competitive as possible for each other. Here is a look at 7 rappers who hold a Top 40 position on the charts.

Cassper Nyovest – Any Minute Now (13)

Nyovest’s fourth studio album Any Minute Now was released after releasing Sweet and Short in 2018. The album features fellow industry mates Tweezy, Youngsta CPT and Tellaman, international talent including Dreamville’s Bas, and gospel artist Anthony Hamilton and veterens Zola 7 and, Pro Kid.

Flvme – D.O.A Dead Or Alive (15)

Dead or Alive marks Flvme’s second solo release featuring Die Mondez, Zooci CokeDope and Nasty C. Fans await new music from the artist after he teased his upcoming single on social media featuring Blxckie.

Nasty C – Zulu Man With Some Power (16)

The award-winning rapper from Durban released his sophomore album Zulu Man With Some Power under Def Jam Recordings in August 2020. The 20-track album has plenty trap influence in it and features both South African talent (Tellaman & Rowlene) and US talent (T.I and Ari Lennox).

Zakwe & Duncan – Zakwe & Duncan (19)

Released under Afrotainment the two KwaZulu-Natal artists created a collaboration album after the already collaborating on previous songs ‘Reverse’, ‘Isukile’ and ‘Khayalami. Their collaboration album features DJ Tira, K.O, Kwesta & the Q Twins.

AKA – Bhovamania (27)

A mesh of various genres into one full length project, AKA released his fourth studio album and it quickly rose to the #1 spot on the Apple Music chart for all genres but now sits in the top 30 at #27. The award-winning artist released Bhovomania merchandise to compliment the release of the album.

Sjava – Umqhele (33)

Umqhele is Sjava’s 2018 release and features the hit Umama. The album was released uber Ambitiouz Entertainment, but the vocalist has since left the record label. Sjava’s latest release is titled Umsebenzi.
