Nadia Nakai On What Artists Should Consider When Choosing Managers
Nadia Nakai On What Artists Should Consider When Choosing Managers. Being successful in your chosen craft is what every artist aspires as they’re coming up. As much as pushing your craft is important, there is also some importance in how the people around you treat you.
Nadia Nakai recently took to twitter to share what she thinks artists should consider when selecting a manager. She mentions that if an artist’s manager doesn’t care about their mental health it is certainly a big issue. Managers should speak about more than just work related issues with their artists.
“Artists, if your manager doesn’t care about the mental health of the artist then WTF are you doing? If they only talk to you about work and not how your heart is doing please reset.” The Practice rapper tweeted.
Nadia has stressed the importance of taking care of one’s mental health before when her boss and close friend Cassper Nyovest said he was struggling with mental health. She sent him words of encouragement and also said that 2020 wasn’t a good year.
Others rappers have been open with their battles with mental health as well. Ex Global recently opened up about the best decision he has made for his mental health. He recently celebrated a year and six months of being clean from drinking lean, smoking cigarettes and eating take aways.
In 2018 SA Hip-Hop lost HHP to suicide after his long battle with depression. HHP’s wife Lerato Sengadi commented on his passing in 2019 mentioning that we should be able to have an open and honest conversation about mental health because these things happen all the time.
Mental Health isn’t necessarily a topic that is openly spoken about in SA Hip-Hop but hopefully the conversation can be widened and include more voices.
