The two were killed point blank in Durban last year, and a few days ago marked 1 year since the famed rapper and his friend were brutally killed outside the Wish Restaurant on Florida Road in Durban.

Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, the KZN SAPS Commissioner, provided an update on the recent arrests. He verified that four suspects are currently detained in South Africa, while the remaining two are awaiting repatriation in Eswatini.

Moreover, in addition to apprehending the individuals directly involved in the fatal shooting of AKA and Tibz, the South African Police Service (SAPS) confirmed that they have also arrested the coordinator behind the entire incident.

These six (suspects) — they played different roles during the operation. We have the coordinator, who is basically the master of everything. He is in custody. We have two shooters, that we all saw on social media. We have two spotters — one of the spotters was inside the restaurant observing, watching Mr Forbes and his friends — as well as the organiser of firearms and vehicles, because the vehicle used as a getaway and firearms used to shoot, they were all hired,” Mkhwanazi said.

Mkhwanazi stated that the SAPS had recovered four vehicles, along with a firearm and cartridges, which were connected to another shooting incident. The first vehicle, a Mercedes-Benz, was retrieved on March 6, 2023, while the firearm used in Forbes’ shooting was recovered on April 22.

“On 23 June 2023, the team after recovering the cartridges linked them together and were able to confirm that that firearm was used in both murder scenes,” he said. “A BMW was recovered on 2 August that’s the vehicle that was trailing Mr Forbes when he landed in KZN.”

All suspects are scheduled to appear before the court on Thursday but the police did not specify which court as they revealed that they have a strong case against the suspects.
