Ambitiouz Entertainment Speaks Out On Makwa’s Claims That He Was Given An Advance By The Label. Ambitiouz Entertainment has positioned themselves as a very prominent record label in the South African music industry. They have had a number of artists under their wing that have proven to be quite successful in the industry including the likes of Blaq Diamond, Loyiso and Malome Vector.
Makwa recently appeared on The Sobering Podcast to speak on a number of topics including his mental health and his experiences in the music industry. Makwa specifically spoke about how he was offered an advance by Ambitiouz Entertainment to be apart of the A&R at Umuthi Records which is Blaq Diamond’s label.
Ambitiouz took to twitter to set the record straight on what actually happened between the two parties. Their first tweet wrote, “RESPONSE [ Thread] Since Our name is being thrown into this issue that was supposed to stay private, let’s set the record straight : #Makwa #Nota“.
They mentioned that after they saw disturbing posts from Makwa on social media they reached out to him, Nota and Kwesta to check if they were okay.
They then mentioned that Nota requested that they assist Makwa financially and so they did. They also offered Makwa an opportunity to take a position as an A&R producer. “2. Nota requested that We assist him ( Makwa) financially and Ambitiouz Assisted for a few months. The money wasn’t a loan or an advance of any sorts.“.
“3. Ambitiouz offered Makwa an A&R/ producer opportunity in order to continue to help him put food on his table, the offer he declined.”
They then posed a question asking if the money was an advance why hasn’t it been paid back to them. They closed by mentioning they didn’t want to speak out about the matter because it was a private matter. “4. If the money was an advance, then why hasn’t it being paid back or AE requested a repayment ? AE assisted because Nota Asked it to help !“
“5. This matter was a private matter & We hoped it stayed that way, but since it’s made public against our will . We Have to fix the incorrect narrative.“
