Cassper Lends His Support To Makhadzi After She Got Snubbed By The SAMAs. Award winning rapper Cassper Nyovest is always lending his support to his fellow industry mates in difficult times. The Angiso Guys rapper uses his social media platforms to reach out to them and comforts them by reassuring them that he has their backs.
The nominations for the 27th Annual South African Music Awards were recently announced and were received with mixed reviews from both fans and SA musicians. After the announcement, vocalist Makhadzi took to twitter to share her disappointment that she wasn’t amongst the nominated artists this year.
She received support from a few of her industry mates including Cassper who reassured her that the awards don’t mean anything anymore. She mentioned that she should keep her head up and keep making history. His tweet read, “Makhadzi don’t worry. They don’t mean anything anymore. Keep your head up and keep making history. We love you.“
In March 2021 the two artists confirmed their collaboration and mentioned that they were in the studio together. Makhadzi tweeted the news out asking South Africans if they are ready for a new sound!
Cassper has had a rocky relationship with the prestigious award show and previously blasted them for being corrupt. In 2020 he mentioned that after he wasn’t nominated for a SAMA for his hit Doc Shebeleza he stayed away from the awards and became one of South Africa’s biggest rappers without their nod.
He continued in his twitter rant by saying that to him, the SAMAs don’t mean sh*t anymore and that the awards don’t hold the same weight that they used to carry. He then said that the fans are more valuable to him that a full cabinet.
Rappers nominated for the Best Hip Hop category this year include Yanga Chief, Nadia Nakai, Zakwe & Duncan, Nasty C, and Boity.
