Makwa Goes On Instagram Live To Demand Money From Artists That Haven't Paid Him

A tweep took to twitter to mention that they had heard from Makwa that Kwesta’s multi platinum selling album DaKAR II was almost not released and asked him to clarify the information. Makwa responded writing that he was held at gun point and the gunmen wanted to take his bag that had the laptop where the hits from the album were stored.

His response read, “I was held at gun point, they wanted to take my bag and it had the laptop that has hits on DakarII“.

A fan of Makwa’s asked him how he managed to get away from the gunmen and he elaborated that he caused a commotion so he could get other people’s attention. He also said his tsotsi taal helped him because the robbers thought he had just come off a bus.

I caused a commotion so that people can see what was happening, also my tsotsi taal helped me in a way, because they thought I just got off a bus from emakhaya“.

Kwesta celebrated 5 years of DaKAR II in February 2021. The album itself was certified 13x Platinum while Ngud’ was certified 58x Platinum and Ngiyaz’Fela Ngawe was certified 119x Platinum. Makwa and Kwesta worked very closely together at Rap Lyf Records to produce what Apple Music called a Classic Album.

Since the success of the album, Rap Lyf Records has since fallen and all the members of the label have gone separate ways. Kwesta and Makwa did however collaborate on Kwesta’s new album g.o.d Guluva.
