3 Producers Who Have Scooped The Best Producer Award At The SA Hip Hop Awards. The producer plays the most important role in the making of a hit song. SA has a number of hot producers who have contributed to the making of top tracks in the SA Hip Hop community.
Some feel that producers aren’t celebrated enough even though they do most of the work in producing a track. Here is a quick look at 3 of SA Hip Hop’s top producers who have dominated and walked away with the Best Producer award at the SA Hip Hop Awards.
Gemini Major – 2018/17
Gemini Major doubles as both a rapper and producer and much like the top two producers has worked with a range of SA Hip Hop artists in the industry. Gemini Major was the master behing Nasty C’s Juice Back and DJ Speedsta’s Mayo. Other big tracks he has worked on include Riky Rick’s Buy It Out and AKA’s StarSigns off his Touch My Blood album. He has won the award twice.
Makwa – 2019
Makwa has collaborated with a number of artists and continues to be the driving force behind a number of star studded singles. His most recent work is on DJ PH’s Serious featuring Cassper Nyovest and Lady Du. He also just worked on a track with Big Xhosa. Makwa’s other production credits include AKA’s Sim Dope, Kwesta’s Spirit, Nomayini, and Khethile Khethile.
Tweezy – 2020/2016
Tweezy walked away with the award in 2020 and in 2016. Tweezy has worked on some of the biggest tracks in SA Hip Hop history. He has been behind the production of AKA’s All Eyes On Me, and Run Jozi, L-Tido’s Dlala Ka Yona, Riky Rick’s Sidlukotini and Nasty C’s King. Tweezy also has production credits on albums by Emtee, DreamTeam, Stogie T and DJ Sliqe.
