Lerato Sengadi Remembers HHP’s Powerful Start To His Performances In Emotional Instagram Post

Lerato Sengadi Remembers HHP’s Powerful Start To His Performances In Emotional Instagram Post. The SA Hip Hop community was left heartbroken when the news of HHP‘s death was announced in 2018. The rapper was one of the voices that shaped SA Hip Hop into what it is today and his music continues to blast loudly all around the country.

HHP’s wife Lerato Sengadi recently took to Instagram to share an emotional video of HHP writing that most times when he’d perform he would begin his performances with a hymn. She also mentioned that the only other rapper she knows who would do that was DMX.

Most times Motho would start his performances with a hymn or some sort of praise and worship. And every single time the audience (made up of thousands) would stop what they were doing and join it. His faith never wavered… until the very end …& beyond.

The only other iconic rapper that I’ve ever witnessed do this is DMX. I’m sure the two of them head up the prayer meetings in heaven. Ke o gopotse gore moratiwa waka Long Live The King! #LegendsDontDie“.

HHP passed away on the 24th of October 2018. He was found dead in his Johannesburg home. He had opened up about his issues with mental health before and it was reported that people close to the rapper had said he had spoke about wanting to take his own life.

While still active in SA Hip Hop, HHP released a number of hits including Music & Lights, Tswaka, Bosso, and Wamo Tseba M’Tho. Many SA Rappers still look up to HHP one being Cassper Nyovest who featured Jabba on his Any Minute Now album on Nyuku that featured a number of other legends including Khuli Chana, Mo’ Molemi and Towdee Mac.

Jabba also featured on Zakwe’s single Sebetin.
