Major League DJz Reveal How Much They Were Paid For The Use Of ‘Slyza Tsotsi’ In A KFC Advert. Before the Major League DJz took Amapiano by storm the brothers were rocking Hip Hop DJs who had collaborated with some of the biggest names in South Africa. Slyza Tsotsi was one of their biggest singles and featured Cassper, Riky Rick, OkMalumKoolKat and Carpo. The track went viral and had almost every South African on their feet.
The twins recently featured on YFM’s new podcast featuring DJ’s Banques and Venom alongside Uncle Vinny where the four unpacked Uncle Vinny’s upbringing and high school life as well as how Major League began as DJs. A question that was raised was about their hit Slyza Tsotsi and how much they received for the use of the song in a KFC advert.
Banele calmy answered the question saying, “it was in the bars” meaning the deal was worth Millions! Out of all the artists featured on the song, only Cassper was featured in the music video. The track was released in 2015 and the advert dropped not long after that.
The brothers also spoke deeply about knowing Da L.E.S during his Jozi days which was when they were still in boarding school. They explained that the North God used to pick them up from school and Da L.E.S would basically shut the school down because of his celebrity status.
Since leaving Hip Hop the brothers have been excelling in the amapiano space, releasing their own music and dropping live balcony mixes where they allow other amapiano DJs to join them. Their balcony mixes have featured the likes of Mr JazziQ, Josiah Disciple, DBN Gogo, Busta 929, Kelvin Momo and many others. They are currently touring Africa with Uncle Vinny and are soaking up everything the continent has to offer.
