Priddy Ugly Explains Why He’s Not A Fan Of “Give Him His Flowers” Tradition. Priddy Ugly is one of Mzansi’s most lyrical rappers, penning quotable lyrics with all of his music. Priddy Ugly is determined to flourish in 2021 as he gets ready to release his sophomore album.
Over the years in Hip Hop the term, ‘Give Him His Flowers’ has been used whenever fans and rappers themselves feel that a rapper isn’t praised enough. Some feel that the term is widely overused in some instances but it is quite common. Magnum Opus rapper Priddy Ugly, recently took to Twitter to share that he’s not a fan of the term.
He explained that he doesn’t want ‘flowers’ from people who wouldn’t bring flowers to his grave when he passes. He further explained how he wants people to remember him.
“I really don’t like this ‘give him his flowers chat’. I want no flowers from people who wouldn’t bring flowers to my grave. Rather, plant a tree, gain some knowledge & illuminate your mind, then listen to the music – then see if you don’t feel enlightened…”. He wrote.
Priddy Ugly has been dropping singles giving fans insight about what to expect from his upcoming album. He recently dropped The Pen featuring YoungstaCPT which he also dropped a music video for, and released a solo single titled Spiritual Warfare. Earlier in the year he dropped two singles A Reminder To You and Rainbow. He is set to release his album any time now and has been quiet about what features fans can expect from the upcoming project.
Before releasing his first two singles of the year he announced his partnership with Stay Low Entertainment for his independent record label Global African Sounds. The goal for the partnership is to transport local sounds abroad and continue growing South African music.
