SA Hip Hop Remembers ProKid On What Would’ve Been His 40th Birthday. ProKid was one of SA Hip Hop’s most influential rappers and has collaborated with a number of SA’s top rappers. ProKid dropped bars on AKA’s I Want It All, and Zakwe’s Kasi Legazi just to name a few.
ProKid passed away on the 8th of August 2018 at 37. It was reported that he passed away after suffering from bleeding in the pancreas. Now, almost three years after his passing, SA Hip Hop is remembering ProKid on what would’ve been his 40th birthday.
Messages poured in from some of Mzansi’s top rappers, wishing ProKid a Happy 40th birthday. Ma-E posted a photo of him and ProKid in happier times writing that he will always be close to their hearts captioning it, “Linda “PRO” Mkhize, Khabazela, Kamavovo you will always be close to our hearts … Happy 40th birthday King THE NO1 SOWETO BOY!!!!“.
Gigi Lamayne also posted a throwback of her and ProKid.
Heavyweight lyricist Zakwe wrote a simply birthday message penning, “Happy Heavenly Birthday Soja Lami, Gcwabe“.
P dot O and Stogie T both posted photos of ProKid in his element in rememberance of him.
Ntukza wrote, “Happy birthday Pro Mkhize Khabazela, the number 1 sotra“.
Kwesta penned his Birthday message on Instagram posting the album cover of ProKid’s debut album Heads & Tales. The Fire In The Ghetto rapper wrote, “Happy Birthday groot… Ngiyabonga.“
ProKid will be remembered by many as a legend in SA Hip Hop and has been named a pioneer in the industry. He has also been remembered in a number of songs including Makwa’s Ayipheli. Blaklez paid tribute to him in 2018 during a performance when he performed ProKid’s verse on Freedom Of Fame and shared it on Twitter.
