Judging from AKA’s remarks, it is clear which side of the fence the rapper is on. Supa Mega when it comes to SA Hip Hop is known to be a die-hard fan and while he may show love to other genres such as amapiano, his allegiance is firm with SA Hip Hop. On his social media post celebrating his single, Super Soft‘s latest win the AKA made it clear what he thinks about the state of SA Hip Hop.
The rapper in his remarks spoke about while he is still active SA Hip Hop will always be on top. “A lot has been said about SA Hip Hop this and SA Hip Hop that, well … as long as Im active we’ll be up there with the best, holding it down, and representing,” wrote AKA. The rapper on his post also gave a shoutout, to SA Hip Hop artists, Big Zulu, Kwesta Tshego who currently hold spots on the charts. Big Zulu’s track Umuzi Esandton featuring Lwah Ndlunkulu is currently number 4, Tshego’s collaboration with Shekhinah, My Favourite Song, is number 9 on the charts. Kwesta is number 19 on the charts for his collaboration with K.O, Focalistic and Bassie for their song called, Kubo.
AKA has been dropping back to back Hip Hop tracks with the new kid on the block, Costa Titch. The two first dropped their collaboration, Super Soft and have now released a track called Big Deal. Super Soft has been doing very well on the charts in SA and has been scoring major radio play across stations in the country. AKA and Costa Titch have dropped a new song called, Big Deal, and on the track, AKA drops a few lines about being relevant before amapiano music.
The record Super Soft, last week even managed to hold the number 1 spot on the Official Radiomonitor Airplay Chart. Super Soft this week, however, went down to the number 2 spot, while AKA was disappointed to have not made the number 1 spot for a second week in a row, he did celebrate the achievement with his fans on social media. On his social media post, AKA thanked his fans for the support, “Gutted not to have #1 for the second week in a row but we Thank GOD and our fans and we push on to next week,” he wrote.
