Emtee Reveals How Many SA Languages He Writes His Music In. Rapper Emtee is proud of his South Ah roots whilst some criticise him and say he sounds American the rapper firmly knows who he is and where he is from. People will always have to something say about the moves South Ah hip hop artists make and Emtee is used to these comments. It seems critics will always say that South Ah rappers sound American, as this comment has been said to several SA Hip Hop artists.
A tweep told the rapper that he sounds American when he speaks and called him an American wannabe. Emtee reminded the critic that he is proudly South African. In his response, the rapper revealed just how multilingual he is even. Emtee explained to the fan that he writes music in almost 10 South Africans. This is a noteworthy achievement as there are 11 official languages in the country. “Me I’m hip hop baba rest! and I’m proudly Southaaahhh. I write music in almost 10 SOUTH AFRICAN languages.”
The trapper also slammed the tweep for making it seems them as though he is not educated. Emtee went on to explain that he speaks however he wants because he loves learning languages. “Y nenza ngathi as’gelezanga? I speak however I want because I love learning languages. I always switch it up c’mon. U know de vibez”. This is not the first time Emtee has address the American accent critics. A few years ago Emtee slammed those who had something to say about his accent. “Fck everybody that says i’m trynna be American, i’ve got an American accent whatever, whatever..b*ch you know my real accent, and anyway this accent is not American, at least appreciate the fact that it is from a black american, and also, it’s not American, It’s Hip Hop,” said Emtee.
Emtee is not the only South Ah rapper that has been accused of sounding American by critics and one thing for sure is the artists are not here for the criticism. Award-winning rapper Cassper Nyovest has also been criticized for sounding American and he had quite the clapback for the fan who pointed that out to him. Cassper collaborated with Kwaito legend Zola 7 on a track called Hlengiwe. While many people loved the track a fan found fault in Cassper’s accent in a video he posted of Zola. “How ironic of you to post this when half your music sounds American,” wrote the follower. In his response, the rapper said, “Went through your profile and you’re lame nigga. I have nothing to discuss with you.”
