“Hip Hop Has Been Here For 20 Years,” AKA Doubtful About Amapiano Longevity

“Hip Hop Has Been Here For 20 Years,” AKA Doubtful About Amapiano Longevity. One thing that is certain about rapper AKA is that he is a defender of South Ah hip hop and will always have the genres back. The conversation has been heavy in the streets that SA Hip Hop is dead as Amapiano music dominates the music scene in the country. The popular rapper has been in hip hop for several years now and has witnessed the highs and lows of the genre and also the changes that have taken place.

AKA recently gave a comment on the current state of SA Hip Hop to Zkhiphani and from what the rapper says in the clip it is clear what AKA’s stance is on the matter. In his response, AKA acknowledged that amapiano is a South African genre and also noted that Hip Hop has been around for a very long time. “Amapiano is South African music so it’s okay but at the end of the day hip hop has been here for like 20 years. Piano you can have one, let’s see if you here at year 10,” said the rapper.

Of course, not everyone agreed with this AKA’s comment but some also understood the point AKA was trying to get across. One follower commented that the lowkey agreed with AKA as it is possible that amapiano music could be just another phase that the SA music scene is going through just as with Gqom. “Lowkey I agree… I think Amapiano could be a phase just like Gqom ,but with a longer longivity. Not sure if it’s because how it hits its target market or how many artists r coming out and making an impact,” commented the follower. Other followers argued that amapiano is definitely here to stay and people will still be jamming to the music.

This is not the first time AKA is sharing his opinion on the state of SA Hip Hop. He previously shared on a social media post, “A lot has been said about SA Hip Hop this and SA Hip Hop that, well … as long as Im active we’ll be up there with the best, holding it down, and representing.” AKA recently dropped a new song, Big Deal off his upcoming joint project, You’re Welcome, with Costa Titch. The SA Hip Hop’s artist first single, Super Soft from their upcoming project has been doing well on the charts. Super Soft currently holds the number 2 spot on the Official Radiomonitor chart.
