Rapper Phantom Steeze highlights writing credits on two of SA Hip-Hop’s biggest songs. Phantom Steeze is a multitalented artist who’s dancing career is as successful as his career as a rapper. Phantom Steeze has choreographed for the award shows the SAMA’s and the Metro FM Awards. The Tembisa born rapper has also worked with the likes of Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, and Lil Wayne.

The rapper recently appeared on ‘The Process’ third episode conversating with host fellow rapper BigStar Johnson about his journey as a rapper, dancer and what success means to him and what he aims to achieve soon. The rapper specifically touched on his journey as a songwriter, who he’s worked with on their major tracks.

So basically, it’s called co-writing what I would do mostly is record a song and come up with the concept and send it through. If you like it, then what happens is maybe you can remove my lyrics put yours and maybe give it a different feel because maybe you can’t do it the way I did it.” He told BigStar.

Phantom Steeze highlighted that he co-writes for Costa Titch, however he did not reveal what Costa Titch songs he co-wrote. Phantom did however co-write for Cassper Nyovest’s track featuring Boskasie Move For Me, and contributed to the hook of Tumi Tladi’s hit song Basadi.

I just make music for any type of genre, but because I like hip-hop more, I make it more” said the Stimela rapper.

Phantom Steeze has even dabbled in the amapiano genre and wrote Alfa Kat’s hit song Phone Yam featuring Banaba’des.

He ended off the topic by talking about one of his inspirations for song writing, “For me it’s more of a journey, I’d say people that I look at in terms of those type of vibes are people like Quincy Jones”.
