Yanga Chief Brings SA Hip Hop Together With Exclusive Party But Fans Disappointed At Not Scoring Invites
At the weekend rapper, Yanga Chief hosted an exclusive party for SA Hip Hop. The event called ‘Famous Friends’ was held at a secret location and was attended by several big names. Artists such as, Nadia Nakai, Rouge, Costa Titch, Zingah, Big Hash are just some of the famous faces that were seen at the party. At the party, SA Hip Hop music was the order of the day, at the party and some of the biggest tracks.
Yanga Chief shared the news about the exclusive party on Instagram and in his caption he shared the reason behind the event. “Decided to throw a party where we can play our own music. SA Hip Hop All Day Party tomorrow at a secret location,” Yanga shared on his post. The rapper has been very vocal about the current state of SA Hip Hop and had even shared his take on what is killing the genre. The exclusive party seems to be Yanga’s way of bringing some unity to the South Ah hip hop streets.
Whilst those who attended the exclusive event had a great time, some fans were left disappointed at not being able to score an invite or at least been given an opportunity to buy tickets to attend. A fan of SA Hip Hop tweeted their criticism of the party not being accessible to fans of the genre. “Private party celebrating SA Hip Hop but the fans aren’t invited nor are tickets made available for purchase to actually make a profit, entertain or preview your work to them? Lol aii SA hip hop artist are their own worst enemies,” read the tweet.
Not everyone agreed with the tweep’s point. Tweeps responded that SA Hip Hop artists are using the private party as a way to make amends and get the house in order. Fans noted the event needed to take place especially considering how divided SA Hip Hop has been. “There’s nothing wrong with what they did to be honest. They are merely making amends to get the house in order. Fans & money are important, yes, but this is just as important. There’s been too many Hip-Hop shows before, but not enough of what they just had,” said a tweep. Another tweep shared, “Thinking about it, I think this is something that needed to happen, especially considering how segregated SA Hip Hop has been. But one thing I think they could have done better is not tell us about the event but instead show us via pics and videos or whatever.”
The Big Hash attended the exclusive party and was left rather impressed at how SA Hip Hop was able to unite at the event. The young rapper shared on Twitter that it was “beautiful” to witness SA Hip Hop unite the way it did at the event. The young rapper praised Yanga Chief for his efforts in bringing the game together. “Tonight I saw SA Hip Hip united like never before! It was beautiful Yoh! Can we give @ItsYangaChief a Bells?! This man brought out the whole game, no egos involved, just vibes, young and old, what a fucking shutdown. Who said Hip Hop was dead?!” he shared.
