Last month Gigi found herself topping the trends after making a damning revelation during a radio interview that she will be leaving the SA Hip hop space. Soon after the radio interview, Gigi Lamayne took to her Instagram post clarifying what she meant about quitting Hip hop music.

A lot of people have been calling me to try and find out what is going on (about me leaving SA hip hop), and I just want to clarify something that I did say in the interview.” She went on to say; “I am leaving South African hip hop and its conventional ways of doing things. I will be experimenting with other genres.

It’s very clear that Gigi is flexing her creativity muscles in wanting to try new things. At the same time, she is not the first to do it and surely she won’t be the last. Therefore, the fan base shouldn’t be worried that their Hip hop queen wont be on the main stage in the music circle.

She has recently released “Fufa” that is one of the biggest hits right now and it clearly shows she is here to stay and she is only changing her way of doing things.

“’Fufa’ is one of my biggest songs, and it isn’t even a hip hop song, but did you feel my presence, did you feel my raps, absolutely,” she said. Gigi also said that she felt the hip hop scene was toxic.

“I feel like the hip hop situation in South Africa, right now, is a little toxic in its own way. This is not to say that I am completely detaching from that, but I am definitely going to be in my own lane and doing my own thing and not living by anyone’s rules,” she added.

Above all, we have witnessed the likes of Casper Nyovest, Reason and other Hip hop chanters switching from Hip hop to try another genre, could Gigi Lamayne also indirectly joining the Amapiano craze?
