Yanga Chief Receives Gold Plaque For “UTatakho” Single. The years 2019 and 2020 have been the best for the Eastern Cape born star Yanga Chief.

From winning awards to selling thousands of units for his new releases, to haining two major endorsemenst deals with Castle Lite SA & Courvoisier he has been that silent winner.

After taking a small break from music Yanga came through with a single uTatakho right after Jika by AKA. The single had the best reception that it later topped charts and won an award of Song Of The Year at the SA Hip Hop Awards 2019.

When people complained that he wasn’t deserving of the award, the SAMAs awarded him a trophy of the rapper who had the best album last year. The category included Big Zulu’s Ungqongqoshe Wongqongqoshe, YoungstaCPT’s 3T, DJ Sliqe Injayami and lastly K.O’s PtyUnltd. Becoming A Pop Star became an album that proved the depth of hard work and talent in one.

UTatakho which later had a remix recently gained a gold plaque from Sony Music Entertainment Africa. This means the 28 year old has sold 10 000 units of the hit songs.

The Chief expressed how grateful he was at the people who have supported him in this journey. “Ndiyabulela bahlali ?. Pop Star Album on the way.”
