Talking during the Nkululeko n Cultr Podcast, NOTA made a shocking revelation on who owns Riky Rick‘s CottonFest event. The music mogul made it known that Riky was used as a face by the white people for the event to come into existence.

“You get to that level then you become a Riky Rick and you’re famous and people love your songs and then, you start a CottonFest because you got white friends that got an idea that needs a black face to actually commercialize it,” NOTA said.

NOTA went on to say that the reason CottonFest is still running and thriving is that it is owned by white individuals. Baloyi mentioned that the white community used Riky to get all black artists for the event’s lineup performances.

“You can die, kill yourself and the CottonFest will continue because it’s owned by these white people who were using you so that they can get all these black artists on their lineup for free,” he explained.

CottonFest will always be one of the hip hop festivals that will remain celebrated because of the person Riky was. The festival has given opportunities to every artist to engage with the fans and to have their music known in South Ah.
