Speaking during an interview on EB THEKID Podcast the Durban rapper said that Voodoo came out after he experienced witchcraft attacks. “If you listen to the song you’ll pretty much understand, ‘my enemies using voodoo’ you know what I mean,” he said.

“It was a phase, I dont know if you like too familiar with Muthi, I feel like you can understand it as an African, but if you are experiencing it it’s a different feeling,” Lucasraps added. The rapper’s remarks prompted the interviewer to ask him whether he has been a victim of witchcraft. “Hey, have you been experiencing it?”

In response, Lucasraps said; “why would I make the song, it’s like it made me understand that people actually dont want you to prosper and they will go to any length to make sure you dont prosper. Especially if you have so much potential to do so much good, do you get what I mean?”

“Some people just get hella jealous dawg and for me, it kinda shocks me because, like I said as much as I’m African, I’m aware of these things. I’ve never experienced weird weird sh*t happening in my life like that. That’s when it made me realise that okay cool, people are gonna try, the devil is gonna try, but they ain’t gonna win. That’s pretty much what I put in Voodo.” Lucasraps said.
