Touchline Defends The Khanyi Mbau Line On “5 Grand.” It is very uncommon for fans to scream as their favourite performers take the stage and sing their greatest hits. Many of them are so emotionally attached to the music and performers that they are unable to control their emotions.

Touchline Defends The Khanyi Mbau Line On “5 Grand”

Touchline has been the kind of rapper in SA hip hop to offer those kinds of cheers to his fans. However, he has also admitted to having dropped lines that he felt might have offended someone. During an interview on Conversation With Zolani Juma, the rapper confessed that one of the Khanyi Mbau lyrics he included in his song 5 Grand is one that he regrets saying.

“There are a few lines where I feel like, maybe not a lot, maybe one or two you know, where I feel like maybe I went and said something about somebody that maybe I shouldn’t in order to make a statement,” he said. The rapper defended the lyrics about Khanyi Mbau in his song alluding that people are the ones making it sounds offensive as they tag her in every social media conversation.

It’s open to interpretation, I don’t think it’s an offensive line necessarily, I just feel like the public makes it offensive because they always want to tag her when they hear it they are tagging her and that’s not the point.” He said.

Touchline claimed that he was only advocating for black empowerment in the song and the lyrics well not directed to Khanyi Mbau. “The point was about black empowerment and because people love it when someone speaks ill about something else they just take it and they take it to the top and they love controversy.” Touchline explained.
