DJ Maphorisa Reveals What’s Lacking On The SA Music Scene. Having a good manager is the most important factor that will advance an artist’s career when it comes to music and artist management.
According to DJ Maphorisa, the lack of artists’ management in South Africa is one thing that is leading to the downfall of the music industry and most artists at large. Taking to his Twitter timeline, DJ Maphorisa stated that most record labels in the country are also not putting in place the right people to do the job when it comes to artists’ management.
“In Sauta we missing artist management dats our downfall Im not talking about Booking agent or booking manager “ARTIST MANAGMENT” Also our A&R is lacking whats funny labels hire people who stay at home they dnt even go to groove i mean how will u knw wats popin in da streets.” He tweeted.
Recently DJ Maphorisa has been slandered for gatekeeping in the music industry, but the famed producer went on and rubbished those claims. He stated that with or without him the amapiano movement will still go on and he is not the gatekeeper.
“I see u don’t get it. No one owns amapiano anyone can do it and win. Good example look at Uncle Waffles one trending Adiwele video the rest was history. She did it alone. Ooh look at Costa Titch he’s doing alone n winning. Stop saying I am keeper.” He wrote.
With all the backlash that Phori received following claims that he is the gatekeeper, NOTA came through to his defence and expressed his digust toward Phori’s critics. “When we had nothing Maphorisa housed us, fed us & helped us feed ourselves… You’ll never see me biting a hand that once fed me. I’m disgusted by all the Phori slander that goes around on the timeline & all these podcasts it’s absolutely disgusting. You’re all f*cking k*ffirs!” Tweeted NOTA.
