Emtee Recalls Witnessing Three Shootoouts Prior To His Live Performance. Before fame, Emtee had it tough when he was growing up in the streets of Joburg. The rapper has always shared his stories about growing up in the rough path of Johannesburg, Hillbrow.
Emtee seems to be still followed by the demons of the past even in the prime of his rap career. This came after the rapper recounted how he witnessed three shootout encounters before performing live at an event. The rapper took to Twitter and shared the incident with his Twitter followers as he described his life as a movie. “Had a show in the Yeo (2198) last night n there were 3 shootouts before I performed. Did it anyway. My life is a movie.” Tweeted Emtee.
In a previous tweet, Emtee made it known that he was raised by people who were involved in criminal activities and those who abused drugs. “Thugs, shooters, plugs, junkies, scammers. They raised me,” tweeted Emtee. The rapper released a song Johustleburg dedicated to the city of Johannesburg where he was addressing the different lifestyles of the well-known City Of Gold.
Not only did he face difficulties at Ambitiouz Entertainment, but the rapper’s rise to fame has been a difficult one fraught with rejection. “We don’t know anybody at a production company. We don’t have plugs. We poor. We need food. We need to eat. You’re talking about you want to be on TV? It feels like an insult to them. But I was stubborn about my sh*t. I’m gonna be what I wanna be. OK, my parents say no. Well, I say yes. I’d disappear for a week because I was laying down songs.” He said as per the Vice.com publication.
