New Music Friday: SA Hip Hop OGs Fired Up The Game With New Raps
New Music Friday: SA Hip Hop OGs Fired Up The Game With New Raps. September is still in full swing, and South African rappers have made it a point to rekindle the rap culture in South Africa in order to debunk claims that the genre is dead.
This time around it has to be the originals and the veteran rappers to come through with brand new joints in form of albums, mixtapes and singles. The likes of AKA, K.O, Emtee and Nasty C have all dished out new music to keep the fire burning in SA hip hop.
K.O has been setting the mood for his highly-anticipated album SR3 for over a year but the veteran rappers finally delivered the Skhanda Republic 3. The body of work comes with a slew of features and most of the artists are amapiano cats, but that doesn’t take away the fact that the SkhandaWorld boss delivered some real raps in the project.
Taking to Twitter, K.O wished his fans a happy Skhanda Republic Day as he announced the release of his long-awaited project. “HAPPY SKHANDA REPUBLIC FREEDOM DAY – bo mme le bo ndade #SR3 Out Now,” tweeted K.O.
Not only did K.O set the mood in SA hip hop heading to summer, but the AKA has come through with Lemons (Lemonade) a lead single of Mass Country album. The rapper has been quite in the game, and he is back to stamp the authority as one of the SA hip-hop originators. AKA has always been good with collaborations and on his new single, the Super Mega came through with Nasty C and the two famed rappers pulled a masterpiece for the culture.
Even though he pulled up on AKA‘s new single, Nasty C did not starve his fans from the music of his own. The Durban rapper also came through with Ivyson Army Mixtape. The rapper did not go about it alone but he came through with his troops in form of big-name artist collaborations. In this project, he collaborated with a wide range of artists, including Nadia Nakai, Blxckie, Emtee, Tellaman, Case-Klowzed, and Cassper Nyovest.
