Taking to Twitter, the Durban rapper has expressed his excitement about participating in the popular Red Bull 64 Bars. “redbull 64 bars: the somnyama way,” 💚💐 tweeted Blxckie.
According to the SlikourOnlife publication, the layout of the freestyle does require a basic understanding of tempo and beats. This is an indication that the 64 Bars Freestyle offers enough time for an artist to rhyme on a beat for 64 consecutive bars.
The Red Bull 64 Bars will also feature other top-rated South African rappers in its upcoming 10 episodes, which will include the likes of Shane Eagle, Maglera Doe Boy, Rouge, Dany Devs, Priddy Ugly, Indigo Stella, 25K, Touchline Truth, and K.O.
Prior to Blxckie’s inclusion in the Red Bull 64 Bars Freestyle, congratulations were in order for the Durban rapper after he was nominated for the BET Awards. The rapper was nominated with his peer in SA hip hop that is Nadia Nakai alongside other artists such as Benjamin Epps, Black Sherif, Central Cee, Haviah Mighty, Knucks, le Juiice, Nadia Nakai and Tasha & Tracie.
Following his nomination, Blxckie expressed his delight at being nominated for the world’s most prestigious music award. “It puts me in a position to know that people around the world are listening to my music. I’ve always been into music and imagined myself in different platforms and spaces in music, but being here and nominated on international stages proved a lot,” Blxckie told TshisaLIVE.
