AKA and Nasty C might have appeared to be a formidable force after Lemons (Lemonade) success but it took a lot of work and convincing to come out with that kind of sound. Speaking in an interview with SAHipHopMag, Nasty C admitted that he was very skeptical to work with Supa Mega on the track.

The Durban rapper stated that he was unsure whether he would deliver to his full potential on the song because the sound did not suit his style. “Not that I wasn’t trying to jump on it I was like, I was very unsure if I was gonna be able to deliver you know, obviously it’s not my kind of sound,” he said.

Nasty C admitted that he wasn’t sure if he’d be on the same wavelength as AKA, who is heavily invested in the type of sound that was used on Lemons (Lemonade). “I was like yo, I don’t know, jumping on that type of sound with someone who is pretty much the god of that sound is tricky, I don’t know if would be able to match this type.” Said Nasty C.

AKA also revealed that Nasty C was not too keen when he approached him for a feature. Supa Mega stated that the plan was to find a formula that will get the best out of Nasty C and how he wanted him to sound on Lemons (Lemonade).

“I reached out to him, and at first he wasn’t too keen on it, but for me, it was about getting him into a space that he doesn’t really or a sonic space that it doesn’t really exist in the match and asking him to do something that he doesn’t really do often and to go to a different place and that place he went to its fantastic.” Said AKA.
