The untimely death of one of South Africa’s finest DJs and music producers sparked widespread outrage on social media with most fans thinking about what Cassper Nyovest might be going through after losing a close friend.

The Doc Shebeleza hitmaker expressed shock after learning about the tragic passing of his close friend. “Batho ba slege jo! Ai Mara bafethu this can’t be it.” Tweeted Cassper.

Two days after the passing of DJ Sumbody, Cassper resorted to social media once again and poured his heart out as he reflected on his life together with the Monate Mpolaye hitmaker. The rapper shared how the late DJ would liken him to US rappers Kanye West and P Diddy.

In the same post, Nyovest reflected on the special bond he shared with Sumbody. The also rapper admitted that he can’t bear the pain and intends to seek healing and come to terms with his friend’s death through prayer.

Sometimes you called me Diddy, sometimes you called me Kanye, I still don’t know which one I prefer but I know one thing for sure, the bond we shared was special. You were ALWAYS there for me and I was ALWAYS there for you. I really can’t take the pain and I pray for healing,acceptance and understanding. Pelo yala e botloko SumB. ANEVA JO!” Wrote Cassper.

DJ Sumbody and another person he was travelling with were killed in a flurry of bullets shortly after midnight on the corner of Woodmead Drive and Woodland Drive in Sandton, Johannesburg. According to the Sowetan, a police spokesperson revealed that the motive for the killing is unknown, and they are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

“The motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage. Police appeal to anyone with information that can help in the investigation or assist in the apprehension of the suspects to please call the crime stop number on 08600 10111 or report to the nearest police station.” Masondo said.
