AKA Addresses The “Biggest Pandemic” Facing SA Hip Hop. The “SA Hip hop is dead” mantra has been heavily heralded amongst SA music followers but the game has managed to survive the storm. Last year witnessed what the rap culture in South Ah is capable of doing with most renowned rappers coming through with a slew of big songs.
Despite having a good year in 2022, SA hip-hop still has the issue of originality in its songs. Taking to Twitter, AKA stated that the rap culture in Mzansi is suffering from a pandemic of artists not sounding themselves but rather opting for other sounds that do not represent who they are.
“The biggest issue facing SA Hip Hop is the “sounds like …” this or sounds like that pandemic. Very few artists who actually sound like themselves,” tweeted AKA. The Supa Mega is currently working towards his highly anticipated Mass Country album.
The rapper has already given out the kind of sound that his fans should be looking forward to from his body of work. The release of Lemons Lemonade and Paradise has already given the perspective of what the Supa Mega is coming through with. This coming Friday, AKA is turning up the heat as he is releasing his song featuring legendary rapper Khuli Chana.
AKA made it clear that his project is for everyone in South Ah hence the name Mass Country. The project is going to be made available on the 24th of February but the rapper is currently having a good time in the USA.
