DJ Sumbody and his bodyguard tragically lost their lives after they were assassinated on their way home from an event in Woodmead. DJ Sumbody had a relationship with SA rappers and he shared most of the hit songs with Cassper Nyovest.

The prominent amapiano DJ also had a chance to share the occasional moments with AKA. In a video shared by AKA’s DJ and friend Don Design, the Supa Mega and DJ Sumbody can be seen sharing a drink with friends and having a good time and showering praises on each other.

DJ Sumbody’s passing has prompted fellow artist Cassper Nyovest to beef up his security as he fears losing his life. The rapper told Zimoja that he no longer feels safe stating that people are hungry out there.

“It’s not safe, man. I have been ignorant for a very long time and DJ Sumbody’s death woke me and made me realise that we are not safe. His death really f**ked me up,” he told the blog. “I am always walking around with expensive jewellery. I can’t afford to put my life at risk and tempt people,” he said.

Cassper stated that because he is a celebrity, he cannot live as an ordinary citizen.  “I also need to remember who I am; I am Cassper Nyovest. I am not just some normal guy who can just walk around freely. I would love to live like that, walk around the streets and not be recognised, but I am not that guy. Someone made me realise that this is not the way to go, and Sumbody’s death made me aware that I need to be safe and remember who I am,” he added.

Emtee is another rapper who is afraid for his life after claiming to have received death threats. The Hustler urged other artists to safeguard themselves with tight security as their lives are all in danger. “Musicians, artist, public figures and athletes GET ARMED SECURITY A D PROTECT YOURSELF. They tryna finish us all. One by one,” he tweeted.
