It’s Not A Fight, It’s A Song – Stilo Magolide Announces “IQHUPHA” Ft Big Zulu. Celebrity boxing has become a norm mostly with SA rappers as the likes of Cassper Nyovest and Big Zulu delve into the life of a boxer.
There has been a massive euphoria among South Africans after Stilo Magolide’s Instagram post indicated that he would be getting into the ring with fellow rapper Big Zulu. “It’s official on the 23rd of May the fight is on myself and @bigzulu_sa go at it in a surprise boxing match details coming soon ✊🏿✊🏿Who is your money on?” Wrote Stilo Magolide.
The so-called boxing match, which was advertised for today, turned out to be a smoke screen for the two rappers to introduce a new song. Taking to Instagram, Stilo Magolide presented a new single titled IQUPHA in celebration of his birthday.
“IQHUPHA VS @bigzulu_sa OUT NOW LINK IN BIO 🥊🥊🥊🥊 HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME 🎂 ENJOY THIS ACTION PACKED SURPRISE DROP S/O to @worst_behaviour_music x @campmasters_sa for this SUPA QHUUUU,” wrote Stilo Magolide.
Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Stilo Magolide said that the concept of the song is to indicate the difficulties artists face in the music industry. The rapper stated that in order to be successful, they must face numerous fights.
“The inspiration behind the song surrounds the street-fighting nature of the music industry. For everything you need to do you need to fight your way into it to succeed and stay in it. It’s a way of venting and I thought the only person who can match my energy and whose journey wasn’t the easiest in the music industry is Big Zulu,” said Stilo.
Stilo Magolide went on to say that they decided to present the song in the form of a fight in order to generate excitement and attention to it. “People got excited to see Big Zulu and I get into the ring vs it being a song, so it was an interesting social exercise in what people’s interests are. I am loving the energy. Technically it is a bout because in the song we go head-to-head with different energies, which was quite fun.”
