Makwa On AKA Putting Him On His First Business Class Flight
Makwa On AKA Putting Him On His First Business Class Flight. The hip-hop game is all about ego and bragging rights, but not every player has the genetic makeup to be on that bandwagon since their primary goal is to make music.
Makwa is a South African hip-hop artist who has earned popularity through his music. The renowned producer gained the admiration of well-known rappers such as AKA and Kwesta, among others. Speaking to SA Hip-hop Mag via The Episode Podcast, Makwa revealed AKA’s reason to put him on his first business-class flight to Capetown.
The Producer stated that AKA called him so that they can go to Capetown for the making of Bhovamania. “Kiernan called me at midnight and said yo, I want us to go to the studio to Capetown the following morning,” Makwa said. “I got to the airport we got into the business class it was me, Gemini, and AKA. We got there, I think the whole week we were there recording Bhovhamania.”
AKA’s love for dance and wrestling was the pillar of the making of his EP Bhovamania. The project might not have made a huge impact amongst SA hip-hop fans, but the late rapper was very deliberate about what he was trying to do with the project.
The title and artwork (Bhovamania is inspired by Wrestlemania) are two obvious examples of AKA’s intended reference to WWE. AKA regarded himself as an invincible warrior with an aggressive attitude, much like wrestlers.
