The track, which dropped on September 12, 2023, has quickly gained significant attention from fans and fellow artists alike. Stogie’s heartfelt tribute to two of South Africa’s most influential hip-hop icons comes just months after the tragic passing of AKA and a little over a year since Riky Rick’s untimely demise. Both artists left an indelible mark on the South African music scene.

Taking to Instagram, Stogie T unveiled the tribute track which he opened up by expressing his guilt for not being able to protect his brother AKA who was brutally killed in Durban this year. “My lil brother was killed brother, help mould his career, I got guilt brother, was all hip hop brother maybe we wasn’t even friends trying to be a mentor til that tragic end,” raps Stogie T.

In the other verse, Stogie T went on to ask pressing questions regarding the day AKA died. “Where was you when Mega fell? Seen it through a group text, a tweet or SMS. Shocked on the other end, shot by a couple men. Almost to the day we lost Riky, struck again, f*ck it then,” he raps.

This is not the first time Stogie has dropped a tribute track for fallen SA rappers. Rather the legendary rapper previously dropped Diet Coke a tribute track to Riky Rick who passed away after taking his own life last year.

After dropping “Survivor’s Guilt,” the rapper has been inundated with an outpouring of admiration and support from fans and fellow South African rappers. His comment section has been flooded with positive reactions to the heartfelt tribute to AKA and Riky Rick.
