L-Tido Slams Akon For His Remarks On Racial Equality In South Africa. Akon has sent mixed emotions amongst South Africans following his comments on the issue of racial disparity in South Africa after asserting that black people are the richest in Mzansi.

During an interview on the Drink Champs podcast, Akon said that white people are the ones staying in the townships and black people are the richest people in the country. “Some parts of South Africa, the white folks are the ones in the ghettos, the richest people in South Africa are the black ones. Everywhere you go there are areas where there are poor people but the poorest areas are the parts where the white folks are.” He said.

Akon’s remarks did not only anger ordinary South Africans on social media, rather celebrities alike were also disturbed by the music star’s misinformed remarks. Taking to Twitter, L-Tido ridiculed Akon’s comments and accused him of lying. “Akon out here lying about our country,” tweeted L-Tido.

Akon has made similar assertions in the past. He claimed that white South Africans were oppressed and experienced more poverty than black South Africans. “Now that the power has been taken over, if you go into government it’s 90% blacks running it and the white folks are there screaming more about equality, saying things are not fair.

“They are saying: ‘things are not fair. If I go to get a job a black man would get hired before the white man. So the exact same thing that’s happening in America is happening in South Africa.” He said during an interview with Dj Vlad.
