Sjava Explains Why He Stopped Reviewing Music From Upcoming Artists

Some upcoming artists have found consolation in seeking advice from the likes of Sjava regarding their music due to his unique combination of Afro-pop and soulful tones in the music industry. Taking to Twitter, one of Sjava’s followers asked the rapper if he can send him music for review. “Nkabi can I send you my music,” read the tweet.

Sjava responded by saying he no longer takes songs for evaluation from emerging musicians. The rapper hinted that he may be working on a song similar to the one he’s been requested to evaluate and that he may be accused of stealing the tune of an emerging artist.

“Kuyingozi loko what if you send a song that talks about a lion kanti nami khona engibusy ngayo called ibhubesi masengikhipha yami uzothi ngitshontshe ingoma yakho
Angisayifuni kabi leyonto iyaxabanisa,”
which translates to; “It’s dangerous, what if you send a song that talks about a lion and I’m talking about it called a lion, let’s get mine out, you’ll say I stole your song
I don’t want that anymore, it’s confusing,”
Sjava said.

Music reviews have always been an essential aspect of the industry. They can make or break an artist’s career, significantly influencing public opinion and impacting sales and popularity. For upcoming artists, a positive review from a respected figure like Sjava can open doors to opportunities, attract a wider audience, and help build credibility in a highly competitive industry.
