The rapper is a darling of the Kaapstad people due to how he addresses the difficulties people in his community face on a daily basis. Even though that might be the case, there is a sentiment amongst SA Hip-hop fans that the 2021 Lyricist Of The Year is not getting the much-deserved respect in the rap game.

Taking to Twitter, one of the SA hip-hop fans queried the reason behind Youngsta CPT not being involved much in SA hip-hop conversations considering his immense contribution to the game. This came after Rashid Kay shared his top SA Hip-hop albums of all time without Youngsta CPT’s 3T.

When it comes to SA HIP HOP why is it @YoungstaCpt not mentioned? Doesn’t he fall under the genre? That time he won the Lyricist of the year award with 3T but the Album is not in the top 5 list or to debate about it? Ya’ll disrespect or hate Youngsta too much.” Read the tweet.

In response, Youngsta CPT said that the reason for that is because most of SA Hip-hop stories are documented in Joburg, hence there is not enough coverage for the rappers in Capetown. “If JHB is the only region documenting SA Hip Hop then this will always be the outcome…” Youngsta CPT wrote in a tweet.

Youngsta CPT has always stayed true to both hip-hop and his roots and that identity of him has made him one of the best in SA rap. The rapper managed to create relations with big-name SA rappers including the late AKA and Riky Rick amongst others. The rapper carries a number of awards under his belt as he won the SA Hip-hop Best Album Of The Year in 2019 and SA Hip-Hop Lyricist Of The Year in 2021.
