25K Narrates How The Collaboration With Loatinover Pounds On “Sosh Plata Remix” Came About. Pretoria has consistently proven itself as a breeding ground for talent within the South African hip-hop scene, with Loatinover Pounds emerging as a recent and noteworthy revelation.
After dropping his single “Sosh Plata,” Loatinover Pounds was inspired to release a remix, a decision that undoubtedly paid off as the remix swiftly transformed into a South African street anthem. On the remix, Loatinover utilised the prominence of the famed fellow rapper 25K as he hopped on the remix along with Thapelo Ghutra.
Speaking during an interview with Hype Magazine, 25K narrated how he ended up being on one of the biggest songs of the year. 25K mentioned that his DJ introduced him to Loatinover Pounds’ album ‘Hood Misunderstood,’ and it was the track “Sosh Plata” that quickly became his standout favourite from the entire project.
“It’s the craziest story, so my DJ his name is Karabo, he always put me on like music before people actually catch up to it. He would listen to like a kid who’s still up-and-coming and bump it in the car on our way to the shows and stuff like that. So he was playing me Loatinover Pounds album Hood Misunderstood and his favourite song from the album was Sosh Plata,” he said.
“To me, Sosh Plata stood out the most so when I first heard the song it was that thing where it became a favourite. I then found out later that when I went to Artists On The Rise which is like a competition by Homecoming, Loatinover had submitted to be a part of the competition. He performed the song and he was actually one of the artists who stood out,” 25 K added.
The Pretoria-based rapper explained that he was amongst the audience when Loatinover performed “Sosh Plata,” and it was after the performance that Loatinover approached him and requested a remix collaboration.
The 28-year-old rapper mentioned that he engaged in a back-and-forth discussion with Loatinover Pounds about participating in the remix. He initially proposed the idea of creating a new song, as he believed that “Sosh Plata” was already a strong track in its original form.
“So after the competition, he was a finalist and he reached out to me and said he wanted to do a remix of the song and I told him to let’s do another song because I feel like the song is perfect as it is let’s not ruin it… And he was like nah I feel like this is the song I wanna get you on.
“So I was like okay dont change the song leave it as it is, leave a space for me, let me try a verse and see how that goes. The crazy thing was I did the verse over the weekend, he had sent it to me on Friday and Sunday I recorded the verse and sent it back to him and it was one to him and the rest is history.” 25K said.
