Cassper Nyovest Opens Up About Writing Tribute Song To AKA
Cassper Nyovest Opens Up About Writing Tribute Song To AKA. Cassper Nyovest’s highly anticipated album “Solomon” has finally been released, and the rapper is earning widespread acclaim from fellow artists and respected figures in the entertainment industry for crafting a remarkably mature and sophisticated body of work.
Nonetheless, Mufasa has faced significant backlash from certain South African hip-hop enthusiasts for creating a tribute song dedicated to AKA, with whom he had a strained relationship during the late artist’s lifetime.
During a listening session for his album “Solomon,” Cassper provided insights into the motivation behind penning the song and shared the deep sense of sorrow he experienced upon learning of AKA’s untimely passing.
“It was a tough song to write, I never thought ever in my life that I’d be like writing a song about Kiernan in that light,” he said. “When I heard of his passing I couldn’t even express the pain I was feeling because of our relationship, we hated each other. I mean, I hated him till the last day, but I was shocked myself, I was so sad,” Cassper added.
After a decade of fierce rivalry in the music industry, Cassper openly acknowledged the significant impact AKA had on his career. “I realised how important he was to me and you know, I felt for his family, I felt for his kid, and I was so devasted.
“I remember that evening, I didn’t sleep. Like I slept at seven o’clock in the morning the next day and just called my friends like yo please come over to my crib and I was just like messed up. I couldn’t express it, I couldn’t get on social media, I was just going through it.” Cassper said.
On why the tribute song to AKA is on his Solomon Album, Cassper said; “It’s like maybe a way to put it out and this album was very therapeutic for me. No one is judging me, I was just saying how I felt. So the song is called Candlelight.”
