Drawing from her distinctive style and innovative musical perspective, the acclaimed Ice Cream hitmaker has assembled a global roster of top-tier artists for a music project. The project’s aim is to tackle prevalent social issues and inequalities experienced by a wide audience.
In a recent Instagram update, Gigi Lamayne openly shared her reflections leading up to the EP’s highly anticipated release slated for Friday. She candidly admitted that the journey has been the most arduous and demanding aspect of her musical career, given the unique challenge of merging hip-hop with various other genres.
Nevertheless, she took a moment to express her heartfelt gratitude to all the individuals whose efforts have contributed to the triumph of this upcoming music project, which is set to pave the way for her album release next year.
“The biggest and most challenging in the history of my career. As the EP drops this Friday leading to my Encore album dropping next year, I am so excited about getting to work with new talent through our Label and Agency “ Hart Roc Entertainment as well as Berlin Based International label @paradisesoundsystem.
“I was challenged to bring hip hop to different genres and my wildest imagination wouldn’t have taken me into this video piece. Singing on what some may say is a @realblackcoffee sound. I’m thankful to all the international acts who make an appearance on this global project.
“Hip Hop will always be home, and I love to be tested once in a while. #LetMyPeopleGo with UK 🇬🇧 born talent @megatronicuk takes you to freedom. Something we may think we have but don’t. The activist in me has always had a resounding obligation to deliver on societal issues,” she said in a lengthy post.
In an effort to provide her fans with a glimpse of what they can expect from the project, the 29-year-old rapper unveiled a single titled “Let My People Go.” This single delivers a powerful message centred on themes of liberation, freedom, and social justice.
“This is just one of them. As God Said to Pharaoh, “ Let my People Go” I ask for the chains of poverty, fear, exploitation and inequality to be dismantled and done away with. We have struggles as the youth. Waking up without a plan is a whole new level of grief. We are still hopeful. EP drops this Friday featuring some of Africas richest sounds … with Hip Hop at the core of course,” Gigi Lamayne added.
